I would LOVE to, but I'm too chicken.

But I did give him a gift last Christmas that's therapy-related, and he keeps it in the office. I like knowing that there's something of "mine" in there, along with all of his stuff.
Thanks for this!

I almost asked my T if I could bring in a teddy bear but instead I asked her: can i have something to hold like a pillow? So T grabbed a pillow from the waiting room and has it in her office. Every time I go see T I grab it and hold it for my session. I also don't want people seeing me carry a teddy bear out of the office

My T is awesome! One day I was really anxious and struggling. She made a joke and said something like "Mr Moose is behind you if you need him." I turned around and sure enough there is a moose sitting on the back of the couch lol. I think she was a little shocked when I actually picked him up and held him. Now thats the first thing I do when I go in the office. he makes me more comfortable. Sometimes when Im wanting to hug T i'll hug moose instead T has strict boumdaries

only gift I ever gave my XT was some Christmas cookies once. He loved them.

I would love to bring in my Teddy bear. Might feel weird though! Maybe when we start the inner child stuff I'll bring up some guts to ask him.

I brought a T bear when I first started therapy 8 monthes ago. T kept him safe in his office until last week when I asked to take him home for the week. T named him for me last week. I would ask I was SO scared he would tell me no, but he was totally open to it.

Is that your T bear in your picture? He's cute! To be honest I've never wanted to bring a teddy bear to therapy, but I do still have my bear at home on my bed.
Thanks for this!

I have a teddy at home that I've had since I was born (25 yrs old). Right now, I'm trying to do some inner child therapy by experimenting on my own. I'm using the teddy bear symbolically of me a child. T is aware of this experiment, by the way. I cuddle with it alot. I talk to it and tell it everything that I needed to hear. I spend time with it and give it attention. I just started this a few weeks ago so I don't know if it's working yet, but it sure isn't hurting anything to try. I do find it very comforting and is a way to self-soothe.

The only thing I hold in my T session is I put my jacket over my knees and my bag on top. Chair is really straight backed so no getting comfy there. There are two other nicer chairs in the office, kind of moulded around for you to sit in to nice a comfy, but one is behind the chair I sit in and one is behind the chair my T sits in. I haven't tried asking about sitting in one of them yet. Maybe some day I will. They look really comfy lol Only in T a few months so haven't given her anything yet. Don't think I would though, cos I'm not sure she would take anything from me.

I took my bunny with me to ex-T once! I felt like such a child, but I loved hugging him and having him on my lap.. he makes me feel safe (he came to hospital with me when I had to stay in for observation)! I feel like T may have found it a little odd, but she kept looking at him and grinning.. she even asked if he had a name (he doesn't, and she didn't want to suggest one because he's mine), and then if she'd be seeing him again!

Perhaps I'll ask my next T if they can keep bunny - or another cuddly toy.. I think I like my bunny too much - with them (hidden away) and bring him out when I come! I know I felt really self-conscious walking around with bunny that day I took him to ex-T.. so that would be nice! I think I'd feel bad for asking though.. I wouldn't want to put them out and/or take up space, hmm.

My therapist a while back gave me a stuffed bunny and cow that I still have. Even though our relationship ended horribly I still love them. I wanted my VMT therapist to give me a stuffed animal. She didn't, but gave me a ring that her mother gave her. Awesome! This was after my trying to playfully "steal" her rangs off her hands in sessions, so it was a fitting gift. But I still wanted a baby animal, so I bought a fuzzy bunny at the dollar store and named it after her.
