I love watching the summer olympics and was just reading something about them ... then I was thinking about therapy and T's and thought well ok then, if my T and therapy was an olympic event what would they be

I decided that sT is a long distance runner with brief sprints along the way then settling back into a steady and consistent pace; and mT is a swimmer possibly something like an individual medley relay where the strokes change along the way and we weave all over the place including plunging deep into different topics; skim the surface with lighter conversation and fun and diving under again

Where does your therapist and therapy fit in relation to the summer olympics?

I've often thought of t as a swimming coach and me competing in a long distance swim.
I used to swim competitively in high school and our coach would walk along the deck to help pace us. So I see t as my coach, helping pace me along the deck. T can yell encouragement, tell me to speed up, slow down, watch my "form" etc. I am the one in the pool and the only one who can do the work. I can choose to listen to t or ignore it. But my choices affect the outcome of the race and only I can be responsible for the choices I make in the pool.

my T is a triathlete (seriously).

Me? I'm just in the grandstands - but at ground level. Yes, it occurs to me that you can't see much from that level, but i have this thing about heights.

I don't know about T, but I will be appearing in both the high jump & broad jump events (jumping to conclusions, that is) in the therapy olympics.

How about you?
Thanks for this!

I actually live in London, so my therapy in this Olympics is non-existent. T is escaping the heaving crowds in the city to go on vacation. Can "disappearing act" be my event? That's my ideal outcome from therapy, too, that all my problems disappear. Otherwise I'll go with hurdles, the most literal of metaphors.

hurdles! Ha!

the event in therapy olympics I really wanted to be in was archery - there's something so satisfying about the idea of aiming at your target and just HITTING it spot on -

but I didn't qualify.

neither T2 nor I could say that was a surprise

Feels like the decathlon. Some issues are short, some are long...all are strenuous.

My T lives right near the olymPics. So my getting to her during the games will be an event in itself

My T, in reality, and in therapy, is a distance runner.

100 yards for people without a sense of direction, I'm afraid.

I wonder how many T's actually are athletes of some kind; seems several are which is interesting

My T is very athletic. He's black belt in some sort of martial art (I don't remember which one.) He loves long distance bike riding. He loves sports shooting, and all of the hunting sports. We are SO different this way. I am about the least athletic person you will ever meet. He doesn't get that about me at all which we've nearly come to blows about several times over the years.
