not table tennis, but T tennis.

SAWE: yes, but see, it was OK.
T2: How was it OK?
SAWE: Because I trusted her.
T2: Your trust was misplaced.
SAWE: [silence]
T2: Do you trust her today?
SAWE: Um... no.
T2: Have you trusted her in the last 20 years?
SAWE: Um.... no.

Game over.

Does your therapy ever go into T tennis mode?
Thanks for this!

Yup, same result when she pointed out that tiny fly in my logical ointment.

Oh yeah. And then I end up sitting there with this dumb/lost puppy look on my face because I have no clue what to say next, knowing that somehow my logic is not logical at all. *sigh* Problem is, she wins the match because she ends up being right. Doggone it. LOL

The moments like this end up being my favorite times in therapy. NEVER at the time they occur though!!
Thanks for this!

Yes!

Geez: I'm angry at you for being consistently late.

T: I don't do anger in this room. Anger doesn't help.

Geez: It's not good to be stuck in anger however therapy would be the place to express it and explore it to then be able to get through it. Especially for someone like myself who had denied that emotion for most of their life.

T: Interesting thought. (with arms crossed looking away)

Geez: What are you holding back from saying??????

T: Silence.

You two had talked about the late thing before right? And she acknowledged that's the way she operates (always running a bit late)? And she suggested giving you first appointments in the morning... did she suggest you might need to find another t if you really needed to go by the clock?

Or did that conversation happen after you told her you were angry?

No, my T and I don't have discussions like this. It doesn't seem like a bad sort of discussion, and it is interesting that others have this type of talk too. My T and I have never done this!
