I've heard mixed reviews about it, but I don't have many options for seeing a licensed psychologist where I live. I truly live in the middle of nowhere for work reasons. I have to get many of my groceries through Amazon. I can't Amazon a therapist, though.

I'm not needing to see someone immediately, but I wanted to get the ball rolling on investigation, just in case it becomes necessary eventually. What are people's thoughts on this kind of therapy here?

We are doing therapy through skype right now because she is stuck in another country for the past year for a family emergency. It is the best she can do. Its not nearly the same as in person (we really need her hugs and hand holding, and we miss that a lot) but its great to at least see her face and her expressions and she can see ours. Its definitely much better than nothing.

I think its ok, but you should really try it for yourself. You are the one who needs to feel comfortable doing it. Personally, I would do it, but I would probably prefer the phone over skype.

If it is ok with the therapist, then I think it is up to you to decide... If your ok with it, I say go for it!

I am doing therapy via Skype, and am finding it helpful.

I asked my T about it and he wondered how that would work without at least meeting in person every once in awhile , in case the patient did something crazy, Is that an issue?

I see my T for sessions but I also skype with him sometimes. I'll admit it can be awkward because I can see myself and I get self-conscious but it's neever hurt. Takes some getting used to but you should definitely try it out.

If you live in/near NY I could give you a referral to a T.

I've done email therapy okay, I know video therapy has been around for quite awhile. I wouldn't want to get as in-depth with video I don't think but I would try it if it was my best option.

My T has offered it, if I move away. It wouldn't be ideal, but I would do it.

Thanks, everyone. I get the feeling that this could work decently well. Also, I don't live in NY state.
