Hi!

Ok so my therapist and I have a very great relationship... And we love any reason to celebrate or give gifts (ya I know kinda unusual.) Anyhoo, my t has laringitous (idk if I spelled it right), and I wanted to bring her a little something on sat. at our next appt as a "get well" sort of thing. There are no rules on gift giving. What is a suitable get well gift that isn't over the top? I have a difficult time reigning in my enthusiasm... And I want a gift that sends the right message.

I vote a get well card and a Popsicle or a little kid microphone that magnifies your voice.

How about a cute card and some homemade cookies or something? I wouldn't do anything more involved than that just for a little laryngitis.

I'm all about the card idea. If she likes any kind of hard candies, you could go that route also.

I'm more of a make-it-myself type, so I've given T jewelry I've made and poems I write. She's loved both.

Oooo! Jewelry is a great idea too! I went through a time when I loved making jewelry. She would that...

If you have a sense of humor, you can make up a joke for her. My therapist once gave me the homework assignment of bringing her a joke, and she loved the one I found. But I was never able to top it. So when she had really bad life-threatening intestinal issues and I was scared she was going to die, I decided I would make up a joke for her from scratch. I made it about stomachs so that it would be topical.

I shared it with when we were back together again. She laughed. And she still talks about it all this time later.

HAHAHAHA OMG! My t and I share a love of bad humor. We are always teasing each other and joking around. I suck at making up jokes tho... But thats a great idea! I will put my thinking cap on!

my T had asked me for a frame to match another one I had given him last year. I was like gee I bought that YEARS ago. but today I found some similar ones on sale so I picked a couple up, they're very minimalist. we put favorite cartoons from The New Yorker magazine in them and then he puts them on his office bookshelves. The cartoon that is displayed now is from last September. T likes Swedish stuff, it's a little girl reading an essay at the front of a classroom, saying, "The Girl Who Kicked Summer Vacation's A s s" It's a reminder to BE that girl!

I give flowers. Use once then throw away.

If I gave her a book, I'd be afraid she might not read it.
If I gave her an ornament, I'd be afraid she might not display it.
And so forth.

I don't want to set myself up for rejection, nor do I wish to place her under any obligation.

these are good ideas. I always have pedialyte popsicles stocked at home. you never know when you're gonna need them. and i'm a coffee drinker, so I can tell I am sick when I want tea
