I had been thinking about this in relation to some of the therapist bloggers I've read and some of the statements they make about both themselves and their clients. Then I read this article
http://www.ynot1.com.au/blogs/The%20...cwk%20(WP).pdf And another one here http://psychgripe.blogspot.com.au/20...ssist.html?m=1 Interesting take on transference in the therapy relationship and the desire by some t's to focus in the relationship nearly to the exclusion of everything else including why the client began therapy. Not sure what I think of the articles yet but I do wonder about it |

ok, skimmed thru them.
i was turned off when the one mentioned that therapuetic transference refers to a client's idolization of their T. this is a pretty common thing that does happen in therapy, but we have to remember that the word "Transference" is not confined to the therapuetic relationship. if u think about it more generally, it entails every relationship we are in currently. EVERYONE does it, some subconciously, some consciously. ever get a "viBE" about someone you hardly know? it's usually just you transfering someone from your past onto this new person into your life. it can be positive and negative. and in the therapuetic relationship- it doesn't always have to be "EROTIC" this article was more about counter-transference in therapy, which means that the T is displaying transference onto the client and letting it affect their subsequential treatment
