A national survey of 250 female and 250 male clinical and counseling psychologists (return rate was 58%) showed that over two thirds (69.93%) of the women and one third (32.85%) of the men had experienced some form of physical or sexual abuse.

Sounds about right. Can't say that surprises me particularly.

that doesn't surprise me either.
I often wonder if very many clients even think of the T.s they see and ponder what horrific things may have happened in their childhoods.....

I think- how strong and hard working many of them were/are, to get where they are today and even take that healing and use it to work with others to help others heal as well.

doesnt surprise me. every one of the therapists, psychiatrists and volunteers here at the crisis center where I work, are here because they have gone through the same abuse that we work with here ie domestic violence, child abuse, child sexual abuse, adult rape.....

New York state statistics show that one in every 4 boys/men and one in every 3 girls/women are abused in some way either in childhood or as an adult.

That's one of the main reasons they're draw to that type of work to try to help others, and purge their own demons.

We don't call pyschologists therapist over here. But what is the survey trying to say? Who commissioned the survey?
