I remember an old thread about this but I didn't do it then. My homework for next week is to put together a comfort kit in a container and bring it to group. We're supposed to use the senses: touch, sight, smell, hearing, and ...? Am I missing one? I already have some ideas for mine but thought it would make an interesting thread to see if others have such a kit, what's in it, or if you don't, what would you put in it?

I'm not sure.. maybe scented candles? Or one of those little bottles of aromatherapy stuff. I am a smell person.
Thanks for this!

We have to put in things for all the senses. I love the smell of vanilla. I have some shampoo with vanilla so I can put some in a smaller container.

I'll put in photos of my grandchildren.

The heart my T gave me.

An email my friend wrote me.

A CD I like.

One of the many stones I collected from the beach for touch.

Something soft, like a stuffed animal but not sure which one.

I've got to think some more, though, about what REALLY gives me comfort.

A book. I have to choose. Maybe a prayer book as well as one of my favorites.

I can see that it won't be so hard after all, but I still want to know what others would choose.

Also the birthday card T and I made together. That is VERY special to me.

I would have to go to the other side of the world, get my t, and stuff her inside. She is the only thing i truly find comforting these days.

Hmmm...what do I find comforting?

Smell: Something lavender or rose scented.

Taste: Some chocolates and gummy bears.

Touch: Something soft and furry.

Hearing: A mix CD of favored songs.

Sight: Pictures of my H, maternal grandparents, godchildren, and T.

Book: A book of prayers or poetry.

If i were in my normal mode of being myself (& not the past year with my t being gone), these are the things i used to find comforting that i would put in, although they dont seem to work anymore...maybe someday when my t gets home:

Gummy bears or MnMs or Tim Tams
Something sparkly (like a prism)
Michael w smith cd
A fleece blanket
For scent, a vanilla or buttercream scented candle
The Bible

My list would be very close to yours. We are alike in many ways I think

Taste: chocolate and mints
Sight: picture of T, picture of boyfriend, and the Bible
Sound: my favorite Christian music collection on mp3 player
Touch: my teddy that I've had since I was newborn (25 years ago lol)
Smell: Gain laundry detergent and an apple pie scented candle
Thanks for this!

I love this idea! Here is what I would put in my comfort box.

Hearing? Some beautiful music. Josh Groban CD's.

Sight? Beautiful nature photos. Photos of loved ones.

Touch? An object that belonged to someone I loved. My mother's necklace.

Smell? Something gentle. Vanilla candles.
Thanks for this!

Last year when I made mine for DBT group homework I had:

Crystal Light hard candies
A small square of my favorite soft blanket
Crayons and coloring books
A magnent that my T gave me
A card that another group member gave me
A dryer sheet with the scent of clean linen
My iPod that has my meditation stuff on it.
Playdoh.
Thanks for this!
