I was wondering is it appropriate to get a gift for T and Pdoc? if so what would you get a female T and male Pdoc? Just curious....my mom asked what I was doing for them and I hadn't given it much thought. In fact wasn't sure it was appropriate. Any ideas?
Thanks for this!

Great question! I have no idea. I guess it depends on your T's personality. My T, for instance, likes quotes and trinkets, I may get her a little something to put on her desk. She also has a great sense of humor.

i have learned that T are very appreciative of something that is hand made.it is easier for them to accept without being put in a ethical conflict.i always make hand made cards for my T and for the most part she had accepted them . i also made her a coupon book at the suggestion of another PCer one year it was cute ,it had things in it like coupon good for one free question, one time use and no restrictions. things like that

I think it depends on their rules on gift giving, their personality, the relationship you have with ur t, etc etc.

I give my t edible things. I also think homemade things are good.

I started seeing my therapist in early December (7 years ago) so thought a bit about if I should get her something. Then the next year I thought I should but like you wasn't sure if it was appropriate. Ended up getting her a Slinky, nicely gift wrapped the box. When I gave it to her she said she didn't accept gifts (and I can understand that but not all therapist feel that way) but she did say she wanted to open it just to see what it was.

Well after she saw that is was just a Slinky she did accept it. And just an FYI for everyone a Slinky (metal not plastic) is the best stress reliever out there, the sound it makes as you shift it from one hand to the other works wonders.

So I suggest Slinkys all around (get one for yourself too), they are inexpensive, and with the explanation of why you got them one a very thoughtful gift that won't be considered inappropriate by anyone.
