Lately I've had dreams around my issues. In those dreams the characters have been caring and a comfort. I have been able to use that in my waking hrs. T seemed pleased this has happened. She pointed out too that they were non judgemental and there to help.
I can see how my inner world had been a hostile place made up off my hostile relationship with my mother and others.
Thanks for this!

That's really great! It's like you've taken the empathy of your T and recreated it for yourself in the guise of other characters. I often experienced changes in my emotional life in my dreams before experiencing them in my awake life. Sort of like an expanding consciousness.
Thanks for this!

Yes "expanding consciousness". That's it exactly.

In my therapy we do a lot of dream work, and I love them! At least when I can figure them out. T says we are all the characters in our dreams so your dreams are showing that some parts of you are caring and comforting toward you. And this is coming from deep in your unconscious, and T says we are ruled by our unconscious. So, yeah! All the good stuff about accepting oneself, being compassionate toward oneself, self-soothing, etc. is happening. Cool!!!!
