Do you mean before the time is up? Or do you mean leave angry at the end?
Thanks for this!

I've had moments where I've wanted to leave before time was up, but since I pay out of pocket I usually talk myself into staying for what I paid for.

I've walked out in a group session, there was a girl there that was going on and on about something, and I just wanted to slap her! I had enough so instead of getting all confrontational, I left the group. But I have never walked out on my T session.

I always leave frustrated and angry but at the end of the appointment, not in the middle. I left one guy I interviewed as a therapist before the time was up because it was just so pointless to stay when I found him to be such a jerk.

This.

My last session, almost two weeks ago, I almost bolted while walking with T down the hallway to her office to begin our session. I was a bit nervous.

In group, yes. Got overwhelmed and needed space.

With T, no. He probably wouldn't let me.

I don't think so. I suspect you T was grateful that you didn't puke in his office.

Recently my therapist was very angry and frustrated with me for an entire session. She said a lot of harsh things and her voice was raised the whole time. She seemed to go over all the most hurtful things she could have said. She compared me to people I am nothing like, compared me to her other clients who do better than I do, told me all the ways I'm failing, and not trying, even though it was the opposite of how I was feeling about my efforts.

I told her I wanted to get up and walk out and never come back. Despite the fact that I was in tears, and I never cry in front of anyone, she just repeated the negative stuff again. I wasn't trying etc. That was the closest I've ever been to leaving early.

I have left early once because it I was over whelmed with what was happening. But- I told my T I needed to go before I left.

Have I left before time was up or very close to it? No.

Have I stormed out angry and stopped acknowledging the things he was saying to me at the end of the session? Yes.

Oops! I didn't think of that.
I meant specifically before the time is up.

It's beginning to look like people are more likely to walk out of a group than individual therapy.
My walk out was from a group, although it was directed at my T.

Yes, I walked out of group T once...I don't recall exactly what the issue was, but I recall feeling frustrated and aggravated....and had enough. So, when one member had to leave early, I took the opportunity to get up and walk out with them - saying something like, "I've had enough".....I was kinda embarrassed about it after I was able to calm down.

I've actually had a conversation with T about walking out. I told him I get anxious because I sometimes feel trapped in the room and want to walk out in the middle of things. He made a deal with me that it was okay to do that as long as I told him first, and he would be allowed to ask if it was because I was feeling sick or because I needed to escape.

I only did once, at my last session with my last therapist. He was blatantly, intentionally nasty and he had also been pushing me to stop coming back. Even though I was imagining he'd be happy to have the extra half hour as I did it, I'm glad I walked out in the middle. At least I surprised him when i did it.

I walked out of my dbt group once, because a group member was going on and on about a conversation some of us (not her) had during our breaktime, and she was basically attacking me. I could not handle it, so I walked out. I just sat there because I had walked out without my stuff, so one of the group t's came out and talked to me and i got my stuff at the end of group.
