I've been seeing a therapist since around February. Things were going fairly well, and we had a solid relationship. I made a lot of personal improvements.

However, lately he keeps flaking on appointments. I was supposed to see him on Friday. I went to his office for my scheduled time. The door was locked, lights were off, etc. I tried calling him, and he never answered. He texted me a few hours later apologizing and saying that he'd call the following day. He didn't. I called him a few days later, to which I received no response, and texted him a few days after that, to which he responded that he'd call the following day (which would have been yesterday). Still no response.

Am I so easy to avoid and forget about? I feel like I've been chasing him around for the past month trying to make an appointment. I wonder if he's like this with his other clients too, or if it's just something about me.

I'm sorry to hear you are having such a bad experience with your therapist He definitely should get back to you. Are you able to confront him about it diplomatically? Tell him how you feel and what he seems to be doing? Do you have an email address that you could write to him if he doesn't answer the phone?

I strongly doubt that it's anything to do with you that he is not responding He may have other things going on personally that are impacting on his work, however if so he still needs to make other arrangements for his clients and inform them that he is unavailable.

I really hope you can sort it out soon

I really doubt he's behaving this way only with you. This is really unprofessional conduct. If all of this happened over the course of a few days or a week, I'd wonder about an emergency health crisis or something. But over a month? I think I would seek out another T, at least for a consultation about what you have a right to expect from a provider, and whether this relationship is repairable--or even should be repaired.
