Ha! Finally today after 9yrs brought up the subject of my neurosis around pee & poo. I think this made T's day! I'll say no more. Except to say....it was a 'sh-it' session. (Falls on floor laughing)

That is funny, and also reassuring that it takes other people a long time to finally broach subjects they find difficult.
Also, as an aside, one of the things that truly panicked me about having kids was the idea of potty training them. I had read the Freudian stuff and was terrified I would scar them for life. LOL. |

Congratulations, Earthmamma! Brave, brave, brave of you!
![]() To add to the potty humor, I'll mention that when we were working on potty training with our daughter, I was just really eager for her to get trained, and probably started too early with it. I was all "Holy crap. This is taking forever," just not accepting that not all kids are ready to be completely trained at 18 months. (As if!) Horrible mom, I know... Anyway, we were encouraging her, and she finally sat down and tried to poo. (She'd already been peeing in the potty by this point.) It was right around my birthday, and I was all "Ooooh...the best birthday gift ever" in my head. Poor kid...she apparently just wasn't ready. She managed to poo and it scared her so much she didn't try again for almost a year! Guess it scared the crap out of her. Mother of the year over here. ![]() |

Just to make it clear. My kids are grown. I was referring to the effects of my potty training as a child. Which I have no conscious memory off. But belief my issues go back to that time.
As you were carry on lol |

I understood that actually and was trying to say that was my fear with my own kids-- causing them those kind of issues in the future.

Hey, earthmamma, sorry if I killed your thread. I realized my post sounded defensive when that wasn't my intent.

So glad I didn't know a kid could be scarred potty training when mine learned to use the potty. I would have over thought it way too much.

Earthmamma....so brave to talk to T about... I think lots of people have issues with this but don't realize it...cause they always had these issues(that they remember) until they have good friends or significant others or hear other people talk and realize ohhh...somepeople don't have any problems using the public bathroom or....etc...etc...

I was more than happy to let daycare potty train my first daughter
![]() I think it's great, earthmama, that you're able to bring up pretty much anything in your sessions. I feel good on the days when I can remove the log jam from my brain enough to mutter something that makes decent sense. |
