I'm sick but I have T on Monday. I doubt I'll be able to go at this point. I don't want to wait to long to cancel but if I do get better I'd like to go. So when your sick how many days before your appointment to cancel?

My T requires a 24 hour notification....only problem for me is that my appointments are on Mondays & there is no one to take calls for a cancelled appointment on Sunday's. You might call of Friday if you are still feeling horrible & ask them what they want you to do about giving them notice about possibly not being able to be there because of your illness unless you get better over the weekend.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I usually cancel 24 hours in advance, but I only had to cancel once. You have six days until Monday, though. Don't you think you'll be better by then? I don't know if you have other medical problems or what you are sick with, but a virus of any kind should run it's course before then.

I try to tell my T know 24 hours in advance, if I can, but I've cancelled last minute too. It gives her time to rearrange her schedule and I like being considerate to her; she is so good to me. But, since I pay for the session anyway, if I schedule last minute, then that's the way it goes.

If I was in your position, I think I might contact T to say that I'm not feeling well and unsure if I will be able to make the scheduled session. I agree, if it is a virus, it might be better then. Another thing I would take into consideration is that I often feel better physically after seeing T, so if I am not contagious (with a raging fever) then I prefer to go.

I hope you feel better soon!

I try to give as much time as possible but no less than 24 hours. Some therapists have policies about paying for cancellations that are outside of certain hours.

I guess I am very fortunate. I have cancelled many times on the day itself and never been charged for it. I sometimes given her warning the day before if I am ill that I may not be able to make it but other times I just wait and hope I am better and if not, then I cancel. She has always been really good about it. I am actually feeling now that I am perhaps a bit inconsiderate of her

For me. It depends on what kind of illness that would occur.

I'm assuming your T can't change your appointment day? I very rarely cancel which is a miracle considering my health issues (although I have forced myself there on many occasions I admit) but when I have done she's able to change the day/time just for that week. If I was in your situation I would ring her and say I don't think I'll be well enough to make Monday, is it possible to change it to Tuesday (or whenever).

I don't know if your T can/will do this though. My former T wouldn't have been able to.

My T has a 24 hour cancellation policy. They even keep track at the reception desk of the exact time that you called so that they know whether or not to charge for the missed session. If I was unwell, I'd imagine how anxious and upset I would feel about having to cancel my session - especially if I found that I felt better by the time the session would have happened. I like the idea of asking to reschedule the appt for later in the week, if that's a possibility.

I am sorry you are not feeling well.

Could you call and see if getting an appointment later in the week is a possibility? That might give you more time to heal.

I would try to give my T 24 hours notice as that is the office's cancellation policy.

It sounds like you are a little unsure if you will be able to make it or not? Knowing a week ahead, if I knew I was not going to be able to make it, I would call right then and cancel; why the hesitation? If you know you cannot make it, don't leave the decision hanging over your head, just cancel or reschedule and work on feeling better?

Why not wait until Friday and see if you are getting any better unless you want to change it to later in the week. If that is the case I would call now.

Thanks guys. This is the first time I've actually got sick in a long time. When I do get sick I usually sleep for. Weeks. I've already taken a z pack and still not remotely better. I'm going to call T on Friday ( she only works Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and ask her. I hate being a walking germ vector.

Seems like there would be an exception to the 24-hr rule when you're sick. I think I would wait until Monday morning and call first thing if I still felt bad. But it's only Wednesday; I think you'll probably be better by then anyway.
