But i am going to try to set up an appointment. I've been to therapy in the past and it never helped tremendously. I think part of it has to do with the belief i cant be helped.. even the meds just barely help me get by.

I think this is my belief also ... I was seriously considering calling and cancelling Thursday's appointment ... I think I might need to reconsider that ... Thanks!

Infinite, I had no relief from my depression with medication (or I would get relief for a very limited time with each new medication we tried). Therapy has really and truly been a life saving thing for me. Please try. If you do not "click" with your therapist, you may need to try a different one. I tried several therapists and then gave up. It took my mother in law nagging the holy living crud out of me before I tried again and found a therapist who really has helped me.

Prozac helped me get through the worst of the depression.
It held me together while I did the therapy.

Me: Do you think you can get me off Prozac?
T: Yes!
Me: Do you think that's worth doing?
T: Yes!

I was sceptical at the time but it turned out she was right.

But for where I was at the time, Prozac was an enormous help.

Its hard to imagine being able to be helped when you are feeling so bad but if you try to get help for yourself you might start to feel better
Its a new year, why not try once more. Every t is different, some are not your size but if the shoe fits, wear it

There is a percentage of the population that has treatment resistant depression. Drugs don't work much. Have you looked into alternative treatments? I would seek out an experienced psychiatrist or an outpatient treatment program at a psychiatric hospital that does research.

Hope 2013 is a year of healing for you.

I feel like therapy is a lot of babble a lot of time... just to kill time.

well
the venting is temporary;
but it's the lingering echoes that get the work accomplished.
