I had a therapist last year who was almost abusive in how she treated me, but theres some stuff that I'm not sure if its acceptable or not?
Like the T would pick me up from school and drive me to the office, we'd walk in together and once inside she kinda ignored me for a bit and would walk off talking to her colleague about other stuff.. I found it really awkward and felt really out of place and awkward, like I didn't know what I was supposed to do... am I overreacting? it just seems really odd to me idk

Was there still time left before your appointment with her? In other words, would it have been appropriate for you to sit and wait for her? She should have made her expectations know and not left you hanging and feeling awkward like that. It seems almost like poor awareness on her part but it doesn't sound abusive to me.

I don't know how often t's give rides to their office or if that is a regular thing for her.

That would make most of us feel awkward, but I don't think it would be considered abusive. She should have told you "I'll be with you in a few minutes" or something.

I think it's just rudeness or thoughtlessness on her part to just leave you there. Does drive everyone to their appts.

I can see how it would feel awkward but I also think you are over reacting. It would be better if she took you into the waiting room and said, "I'll be back to get you in a few minutes. Have a seat." On the other hand, if someone walked away from me in this setting, I would sit down and start reading or knitting, and it would be obvious that this was a waiting time. In general, whenever you have an appointment with someone, you usually wait until they are ready. So being "left" after you are picked up (which is a pretty nice and unusual thing for a T to do) seems normal to me.

Why did she pick you up from school?

It does sound like she and you arrived at the office ahead of your scheduled appointment time, and she left you to wait until that time. I can understand how awkward it would have felt, not knowing what was expected of you during that time.

maybe next time you should bring a book or something and just go and sit down to wait untill she has checked in with her coworkers and is ready for your session

I'm with the others, picking you up from school seems odd.

Sorry I didn't mean this was abusive, there is lots of stuff she did which caused me huge emotional distress and which still is, like breaking confidentiality for starters (without any reason to) but it's a novel to write it all here.

She picked me up from school because she's a kids therapist and its a publicly funded service and for a taxi it was pretty expensive at my cost.
I did sit down when she walked off but it was just weird because I've never had a professional do that before. I don't think it was because my appt hadn't started yet, because like I never had a defined time limit. Like once it was a few hours and other times 45 mins.

This does sound weird, especially the giving you a ride thing and then ignoring you! I'm also sorry she was abusive. I hope you've found someone better now.
