Made my 1st appointment with a new pdoc.

Appointment was for monday at 10am.

I get a call today saying they are overbooked.

how awesome.

I'd go inpatient, if I didn't have this agoraphobia.

Oh the great thoughts I've been having!

Can you talk with your primary care doc? It may help a bit.

Sorry you've gotten blown off...pdocs are kind of known for that crap.

that's unethical I think. I've learned not to be so quick to accept what psychiatrists try to mete out in terms of appointments.

If mine calls and says he is overbooked and asks if I will re-schedule, I politely say, "I'm afraid that's not possible. I've already significantly rearranged my schedule to accomodate this apppointment."

Also, always always take the first appointment of the day. You are a lot less likely to have to wait.

Is it possible to call back and say that you're not willing to reschedule? That you really need this appointment?

I think elliemay has a good strategy.

I've never been to a pdoc so I don't know if this is typical, but it sounds rather unreasonable to me. They shouldn't be able to just cancel you because they made the mistake of overbooking. And, even if they have overbooked, it seems unreasonable to cancel a new client who has been waiting 6 weeks to get seen so that they can begin treatment.
