Mr T seems to think I should consign her to the scrapheap of history, but I'm not sure I want to do that. There are times when Mr T seems too simplistic and I miss Madame T's penetrating analysis. And then I remember how useless she is in a crisis. What to do?

It would be embarrassing to go back after the way we parted, but I could face that, I think.

Next time I see Mr T, I'll ask him to help me unpack my feelings.

Have you asked Mr T if he there is a way he could be more analytical at times? (possibility that he will say it isn't his style but if you haven't asked it might help).

Or is it more ... that there are other things you are missing with Madame T?

I'll ask.

I enjoyed the sexual tension with Madame T, but I don't think that is what is bothering me at the moment. Might be worth mentioning to Mr T, though.

It takes time to heal, CE. Way longer than we want.

It sounds a bit like you're wanting from each of them what they can't give.
Thanks for this!

CE - I think sometimes one has to figure out how to accept an ending. I don't think it is fast, or easy or fun to do so.

I guess I've grieved over her as my T. That relationship is dead. (How hard to type that word!)
But I haven't yet accepted that I'm never going to see her again.
There's a fantasy that I might drop by once a year.

Wow, CE, I never thought I'd read this! But I can understand it. Analysis is intense, but it is also so fulfilling because it is deep.

I think it is so interesting that you are entertaining thoughts of returning to Madam T. Why not?! You are in charge
Thanks for this!

CE - what would you hope to gain by seeing her again? I don't think she will have seen the error in her ways, or welcome you back like the prodigal son. I could be wrong, but before seeing her again, I would think at least knowing what one expected to gain out of such an encounter could be useful.

What I'm hoping for is a pleasant afternoon not being motherless.

Did she ever make you feel that way? I'm thinking my t is a pretty good mom, and I got a good demonstration of it this week when his son stopped by the office with his (ie the son's) dog. T stepped out to see him but I found the click-clicking of the dog's nails against the floor irresistible and I called the dog over! Anyway, t introduced us and I have been thinking about it, and what really sticks in my mind is that when my brother is around, I disappear to my mother. But t kept us all in the room. I have brought friends to meet t, and then I disappear! I even refer to them as HIS friends now. My point is, I've never gotten this far with any other t. I didnt even realize it til this week. So was this a wish or a truth of your therapy? I think it's worth having.
Thanks for this!

I often felt Madame T was my mother and that was a very good feeling.
Maybe I'll pop round and see her once a year.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here, but that would be a good time to see her.
