I get episodes in T from time to time where my vision goes blurry/fuzzy and all the colors and (soft) light in the room start to come together. Anyone else ever have this happen? And, it is not because I am going cross eyed because that is a physical impossibility for me. I usually snap out of it but I T has to help me usually by asking me a question or two to get me not focus on it.

Yup, happens to me when I start to dissociate. Usually, it's due to anxiety or feeling just overwhelmed. I'm at the point with T that I can tell her I'm starting to dissociate, and she'll help me get grounded again.

I don't get visual problems, but I get auditory ones. When I get really stressed/anxious, I get hyper-sensitive to sound, and have a hard time focusing because everything seems so loud. I usually need help to get out of it too...although thankfully it hasn't happened in a while.

Have you told your T about this?

Yes this also happens to me.Sometimes when a topic is difficult to talk about.

There comes a point in therapy when I just shutdown and I'm done for the day. I literally feel blind, glossy vision and tone deaf at times. I've mastered the art of doing it by now though....disassociating!!

Also sometimes it too loud, when actually there's no loud noises at all!! Or I'll get cold and feel like an ice cube and shake.

Yep. Right away. I can't do anything else until I make it go away. I always make T ask me a question and T wonders if it is because I am sleepy!
Thanks for this!

No I do not tell him. I try to stare at different things and focus on his voice. I swear I can't remember some of the things I have said to him or even some sessions.

I also do that in therapy. Usually this tells me that I am disassociating. I'm not quite sure yet what triggers it. Sometimes it happens when we talk about trivial, everyday things and sometimes when we go into the deep stuff.

Yeah, I've had a similar experience. I think it's the beginning of dissociating like others have mentioned.

Ever day-dreamed? That's a form of dissociating.
Thanks for this!

Yes, but not in a T session. I daydream/fantasize all the time outside of it!

Highway hypnosis is another example of dissociating. I tend to remember things differently, like T will be sitting closer or farther away, or I will, or the room will look bigger/brighter/darker and sometimes my vision seems to increase in clarity, if that makes sense.

When I had severe anxiety, that definitely happened to me. I had meds that really intensified my disassociation, and my vision would feel blurry, eyes couldn't focus...

Some other things I noticed were my vision getting flicker-y if I turned too fast, and brain zaps (feels like my brain stops working for a quarter of a second)

Dissociation is a temporary response of perception (sight, sound, touch, etc.) Everyone can experience it under different circumstances for different reasons.

DID is a relatively fixed state of the separation of identities, usually developed at a young age in response to trauma.

I experience it more as "dizzy" rather than blurry. I also feel like everything in my visual field is starting to tilt to the side. The feeling I feel is like panic, or I am going crazy, like I am falling. . .

I think it's dissociation, or maybe a memory trying to come to me. My t says it also could be a panic attack.

This happens to me. My vision goes fuzzy and I feel like I'm spacing out. I like my T to just stay close and talk to me.
