ha ha ha Mast...I honestly thought about that! I was thinking "I wonder if they use that saying over there?" So thanks!

I have a neighbor who consistantly uses our boat launch. We are on the lake, they are not, so they drive down my driveway to put their boat in the water. (There is a town landing a few blocks from here) They have never asked, or mentioned they do it, and the landlord isn't aware of it. This morning they launched and anchored a huge (hideous) blue and yellow blow up raft about 20' off of our beach. There are now about 14 kids out there jumping up and down on it, screeching and yelling, diving and having a good old time. I was going to take a swim, but I think the kids will make the dogs nervous.

WWSDD?

maybe I'll go nude sunbathing down on my "private" beach? Think that will get the parents to call the kids in?

I may need a lawyer...

Our marriage counselor showed us this video one time (after knowing us long enough to know that this is something we would both think is funny):

Thanks for this!

Last night at our session, I was telling MC how, over the weekend, I was trying to talk to H about how sad I was about a series of things happening in my life. H started to say, "but ..." and stopped himself. Then he said, "well, there's ..." and stopped himself. Long pause, and then "umm, what about ..." and stopped himself. He laid there next to me in bed for a while and then moved over and cuddled me and said, "That all sounds really painful. I'm sorry." Whereupon I totally cracked up. So I was telling MC this story, and he looked really anxious when I was saying the things H would start to say and then stop. I got to the end and he was also cracking up. H then piped up and said, "It's not about the nail!" and we were all rolling.

Me: there's just this achy feeling and....
H: Uh huh... so on ESPN today there was this really funny highlight...

ETA: i posted before I saw your post above... Its so great that your H is picking up on stuff and retraining himself... wow laughing together in MC sounds like serious progress.

I really feel for you, Ready. Things were so bad with my H for so long, that I was convinced it was over. I did the MC in a last ditch effort and because I didn't want my MIL to be mad at me after the divorce for not trying everything I could to save the marriage first. Kind of embarrassing that I was staying married because I was so afraid of losing my mother in law. But it seems to be working out really well, because I am remembering all the reasons I fell in love with H and things are better than they were in the beginning even (in some ways) because we are both emotionally healthier than we were when we first got together.

Advance apologies for being the world's hugest grouch, but when the "nail in the head" video was making the rounds on Facebook a couple of weeks ago I couldn't watch more than 30 seconds before getting rather disgusted. The woman HAS a nail in her head. Saying that the guy Ought To Know That It Is Not About That just seems stupid to me. It's THERE, and it just makes the woman look like a moron in denial. But maybe they do bring the factual nail up after the 30-second mark

I do not comment on the validity of the relationship advice, mind.

I'd yank the nail out while she was sleeping. Just sayin.

granite...we have signs. I think H is going to have to talk to them...or maybe a big gate at the end of the driveway, with a code, and a electric shocker things, and strobes and a loudspeaker that says: "Hey moron, if you want the luxury of living on a lake, buy a house ON the lake instead of across the street".

FYI - I know you have all figured this out already, but I am the type of person who couldn't do anything but point out the nail. Holy crap, it's there! Idiot.

Wish I could see the video you're talking about....dang computer doesn't let me view videos. Grrr.

Just got back from my T session.....and T said something that he hasn't said to me in years and can count on less than one hand how many times he's said this to other patients....."It might be time for you to see a pdoc for medication.".

It kinda scared me. He is typically SO against medication for depression/anxiety, yet here he is recommending that I take that route. We talked about that a bit as well. I was on Lexapro for many years and stopped a couple years ago at the urging of T. I do still take Klonopin for panic attacks.

Everything is just swirling around in my mind right now.....

Oh, and T said that he wants to put off doing trauma work because he feels that it's just too risky to delve into right now, considering how poorly I'm doing.

That's what I said too. In fact, I often worry that I'm the person whining needlessly about my issues when I really just need to rip the nail out of my forehead.

Mine said this week that perhaps I have too many stressful things going on to talk about CSA stuff right now. I do have to wonder exactly when will be a good time.

Having been the person aching to pop that nail out AND the person griping about the nail and just wanting the other person to sympathize until I got up the courage to pull out the nail myself, I thought it was funny.

Judging by comments on Facebook, by lots of friends of mine whom I respect enormously, you are not alone in finding it funny and thought-proviking.
I'm just too much of a coward to watch the whole thing.
