I don't exactly daydream, but I do have long conversations with her in my head. Helps me to "hear" my thinking and see myself through her nonjudgmental eyes. Sharpens my wise mind. And makes pretty much everyone around me think I'm nutty.

Yes, and I've told her many times, because what I can talk about, or the free manner in which I can talk, in fantasy is not the way it feels in therapy. Also, telling her about it has led to being able to bring up things I might not have otherwise.
And when I tell her and she validates my feelings of wanting to be with someone who can be helpful right then, or my feelings of not wanting to be alone with the things I struggle with, or just the desire to have someone to share everyday things with, that validation helps me to understand myself better, to have a clearer understanding of my desires. And when I understand what I want, it is easier to see ways to get that, or to even see ways that I do have it already, even if I want more. |

I guess I do daydream about it sometimes. It's like I have 'practice' times in my head about telling him really hard stuff. Kind of picturing the worst case scenario regarding telling him and then trying to assess if that is really reasonable based on my past experience with him, or just what I fear he will say or do.

Yes, very often. Both in terms of having imaginary conversations with T, and just picturing being in his office. But mostly I daydream about the talking.
ECHOES, it's interesting to me that you told your T about this, and it's wonderful that you get such helpful responses. I wonder if I could do that. |

I think about T all the time and I'm constantly having conversations in my head with T. Sometimes I think about T hugging and holding me, other times I think about getting intimate with T, but most of the time I do daydream about sessions.

yes. And I am not even currently in T. lol. I think it's human nature to desire someone to talk to that understands. When I do it a lot, I get online and start looking for a t, but then I realize the one in my head is much easier to predict.

Yes, "we" have conversations all the time! Sometimes I mention it in real life and the way my therapist responds in my head is quite different from how she responds in reality. Always a learning experience to be had...

Often. I'm one of those people who tends to think through important conversations with anyone I see one coming with. I would guess that is pretty common.

No, I don't do that. I actually find it really interesting that you do. Do you use those topics in the daydream as a starting point in your next session?

I daydream about my sessions too. Usually I plan the way I wish they would be but they don't turn out that way. In my head, my sessions are more emotional, and I cry. I can picture myself crying in therapy but it never happens. Sometimes I've told my T how I imagine the session to be, but I don't use the topics as a starting point in my session. For me, it's the emotions I daydream about more than any particular topic.
