Hey all,
My T is currently out of the office for a few weeks (2 to be exact), but I literally couldn't sit here and tell you all how badly I am struggling. I haven't been able to sleep, or eat, since Monday. I really, really need to talk to someone, and have used up all the support I can from my own support system. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of finding a T to see for just a session or two while I wait for my real T? Plus, T is out of the country so she's not checking texts/emails. I am literally in hell. |

You could call either a national or local support community to talk about the issues hounding you. They're always available, regardless of day of the week, year, or time of day.
Telephone, Hotlines and Help lines | Psych Central USA NATIONAL Suicide & Crisis Hotlines - When You Feel You Can't Go On... Call a Suicide Hotline. / SuicideHotlines.com - Direction for immediate crisis intervention for the gravely suicidal & treatment for major clinical suicidal depression.

I have no personal experience of this, but I know that many people do contact an interim T for only one or two sessions while their regular T is away. There is nothing weird about doing that. I do hope you will reach out, and find the support you need.

Yes, I've seen other T's when my T was gone. It actually helped a lot. Absences are unavoidable, and it really helped me cope. T was ok with it too.
Plus, even tho both other T's were fine, it made me appreciate my T even more ![]()

When my therapist was out for a medical reason for 2 weeks, I completely lost my marbles, probably unconsciously related to her absence and the timing of my own personal issues. So, I did see a nurse practitioner/therapist for medication. The timing worked out well because I really needed someone to talk to due to a painful anniversary, even though I didn't know her and she really knew nothing about my biggest issues.
