Just watched the new Disney movie, "Frozen", and it's very very good. I don't have a habit of watching animated films but the reviews were so good that I just had to take a look.
This song, Let It Go, I think there are some of us in therapy who might travel this journey - we hide ourselves and conform ourselves to be or act as we think we're supposed to. But, then with enough inner work, we can claim our true nature. And that is exciting and the flush of freedom of self expression and self empowerment can be an overwhelmingly joyous feeling. But, but, we also risk going to far in our rush to freedom. There's a risk that if we grasp so tightly to the idea that we're finally free and no one could possibly understand us and that we'll have to go it alone because we march to a different beat, that we could lose our ability to give love and receive love. Amazingly, this story resonated with me. I felt the relief of the Queen as she shed her shackles (symbolic). But her running away to achieve this left her also lonely and fearful. And the fear controlled her. Fear of her emotions and fear that her emotions could hurt another person. Man, do I ever relate. As I strive for authenticity with the help of my therapist, I also experience loneliness and fear. The next step is to take a good look at those emotions and see how they prevent me from living the kind of life I really want and need. |

I was wondering about that movie - is it based on a fairytale?

Quoting from the SF Chronicle review, "The story borrows elements from Hans Christian Andersen's, 'The Snow Queen', but feels about 600 rewrites away from the source material."
There is a lot of nice music in movie. |
