I had a very non-productive T session last Friday and left abruptly. I was so distressed I was just ready to quit with this T altogether. A few hours after leaving her office I got this email:
Dear GeorgiGirl:

I brought your chart home but just realized I didn't have your phone number with me so I wanted to check in with you. After our time together I realize we didn't connect with the underlying issue that drives your situation with A. Giving you advice to use "tough love" at this point can't help if you are mired in a quicksand of responsibility .. I'm sorry for advice giving. We need to be about working with EMDR on the quicksand. I can be overly practical at times and you will have to let me know it's not helpful. Your leaving the office did let me know that today. Know that I am thinking about you and that we will get through the situation with A. I would be happy to meet with both of you and know that I will not be hard on her. I know she is hurting a lot as you are. Please email or text me back . I am going to be out this evening but will have my phone with me.

A

She also called me on Saturday to check on me.

Decided that maybe I can work with her afterall.

I'm so glad she did this for you; a clear sign she cared and was thinking of you, a good T indeed! I hope all goes well.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad she got back with you instead of waiting until next session.

Me too!! It made me understand that she did really care about what happened in our sessions and wants us to be successful.

You really do seem to have a good one going on that email as an indication I'm glad she wrote to you and followed up after you left the session in distress; and that she owned her own actions as well as showing awareness of yours and being prepared to work on things more is encouraging

She sounds very committed It seems like T's waver on the "right" thing to do when a client leaves the session prematurely (which it sounds like is what happened for you?). I'm glad she reached out to you, though.
Thanks for this!
