Have you ever cooked something for T? I was cooking today and I thought I might like to cook her something to show my appreciation and also to express myself to her in a nice way.

I've wanted to. But I'm afraid she might be on sort of restricted diet. Or what if she's worried I might poison her (I wouldn't, but I don't know what she would think...lol)

Yeah, that for me too. I would also be afraid that it would just happen to be the night that they got a stomach bug and wonder if my food was bad or something.

I almost never cook for anybody other than myself and have never been tempted to cook for T.... I'm intrigued, though - would you bring whatever food you'd made cold, for your T to heat up? Or would you cook something that could be eaten cold? Just wondering about the logistics

I packed a lunch for my T once. I'm a good cook, and everything was homemade--even the sandwich bread. It was sort of a celebration of my depression lifting so that I felt like cooking again. He was pretty pleased, even though he tried to hide it. He told me the next week that he'd shared it with his wife for dinner and they'd really enjoyed it (I'd included enough for two because I thought he might want to share with someone.) I was glad he accepted it without a lot of obvious questioning.

I've thought about it, but never followed through (pretty much out of absent-mindedness than anything). He would enjoy it I am sure. He's quite a chef in his own right, so he's man who loves to eat and loves a new recipe.

I have not cooked for T but we have talked about my cookbook and recipe collections. She has asked me if I had a good recipe for XXX from time to time so I have shared recipes from time to time.
As a small token of thanks I did make a small cookbook of recipes for Cooking for One or Two because she mentioned that she she did not like cooking for just herself. |

I would if my cooking were any good, but I don't even like my own cooking. Honestly now. But I have given him things like teas or chocolates and handmade things I can actually do well.

I've given my T a lot of baked goods that I've made myself. She always loves them because she said that she doesn't bake herself. I've given her cookies and muffins, mostly. They're usually for a holiday. Sometimes she eats one in the office! She's so thin she can eat sweets, though I know they aren't so healthy.

Nope. I don't think about going out of my way for my therapist. He's there to help me for 50 minutes per week and he gets paid to do so. Outside of his office, we have no relationship.

I bake during the winter holidays and give away what I've made. I asked T a few years ago if she'd be willing to accept baked goods and she gave me an enthusiastic yes. I've baked cookies, a snack mix, and most recently, fudge. She told me she and her family have enjoyed the fudge very much!
As far as actual cooking (like a meal or something), no...never done that, and I probably wouldn't without asking T first. I don't think she has any dietary restrictions, but wouldn't want to assume. Occasionally, T has given me an extra appointment during her lunch break, and she's often told me that I'm welcome to bring lunch with me (she's eating lunch during our session - I'm fine with that, and she checks before every session to make sure I'm still okay with it), but I never have. That would probably be the ideal time to bring something I've cooked, though.

I tend more to bring unusual ingredients, like nori seaweed, quinoa, steel cut oats, small sweet peppers, good store guacamole, and truffle salt. Once i brought him precooked bacon i found at the hospital gift shop when i was there for a nutrition class - we thought that was ironic.
