I've been through several strokes, TBI situations. What happens is that my brain changes and I become a different person.
I need help learning to accept the new person that I become. I've seen several therapists, but no one has ever understood my situation, and certainly no one has helped in any way. I have dozens of medications, but meds just make things worse - by changing my brain even more - isn't that the whole point of meds? Suggestions for finding real help? |

My neuro office, is a group of associates, they have on staff a psychologist and psychiatrist, can your neuro refer you to someone who can appreciate neurological disorders, when treating you?

I also have had a TBI. I found the neuro-psychologists are the only ones that I find to have a really good grasp of what someone with an injury is facing. Regular psychologists/ therapists can have compassion and all but don't generally have the special training to really understand and know how to help.

I agree. You should ask someone who is familiar with the situation who could refer you to someone for such a specific case that is not common. Often hospitals have staff there who are familiar with a range of medical conditions and who can help.

I have a more minor head injury and my t is lovely but doesn't understand, how can she. I visited a neuro psychologist a few times and he was brilliant but cost a fortune. I think like the others have said it needs to be an expert. My t works hard at trying to understand but its about the only area I feel an expert would be better. Good luck
