Figuratively speaking. lol.

Literally speaking though, I've parted ways with my T a while ago (we both couldn't see a way forward.) Now, I emailed her in December telling her I wanted to meet with her because something came up with my part time boss. I had actually resolved it beforehand, but needed to talk to someone about it anyway, so I went ahead to meet her.
She... was mechanical. When she asked what happened, it seemed like a programmed response; like it was just her job and she was just humoring me. I know. I've done it to people at different junctures. I can't blame her though. She even asked why I came back.
In the months coming, there's a big change in my life and I'm already struggling to deal with it; and I want to talk to her about it. In addition, something else recently came up that I've never brought up with T. I never made a big deal about it before; but it seems to be recurring.

I really don't know what to do here.
I can't go to a new T for various reasons

((DR))

Maybe start again with a new T?
And maybe tell her what you didn't tell the old one?

Not sure continuing with your old T on an occasional basis is ever going to feel "right" for you. I suspect your old T sees the relationship as quite limited because of whatever the impasse was. If that issue cannot be resolved, then she is put in the role of a consultant, rather than a partner in deep work. She has to navigate her responses to fit this much more circumscribed role.

I agree that it might be time to see a new Therapist, I know that I felt like I couldn't see anyone else after I had to end my relationship with my 4 year Therapist (due to a change in insurance), and as most people on here know my relationship with my next Therapist ended abruptly and badly after only a few months, but I am starting to find a grove with my new Therapist (despite only having a handful of sessions together) and I just hope it will last.
