As some of you may know, I had written a letter earlier this week to my T explaining why I find it so difficult to talk and disclosing some other things... I had a near panic attack this morning before the session about giving the letter to her. I got into the session, she asked how my week had been etc, and then we got onto the worksheets I had done for 'homework'.

There was one worksheet about anxiety, and even though I've never been diagnosed as having an anxiety disorder, I feel anxious/worried/scared most of the time. She read the part where it said:

"how your body shows this"

and I had written:

"legs bounce, hands/legs shake, look down, rock back and forth, fiddle with my hands, bite my lip"

and she picked up on the fact that I was behaving like that right then and there. At this point, I thought, 'damn I'm never going to get a chance to give her this letter'.
She asked me what made me anxious coming in to sessions.

I've gotta tell you, I sent a thank you up to God, I nearly sighed out loud with relief. I mentioned the letter, and she gladly asked for it. It was the best decision I've ever made in my life.
She said A LOT of encouraging things that I really needed to hear from her to stop the negative thoughts (she hates me, shes annoyed with me etc) in their tracks. It's like a massive weight has been lifted off my chest

I guess I've written this post to show others in therapy, even in CBT, that things can and will work out! This is not impossible, and we will get through this, each and every single one of us! NEVER give up hope, or think that nobody can help you. Help is and always will be there.

If you would like to talk to me about anything posted here, please feel free to ask my lovelies

Have a very good week x

You sound about like me. I have never written a note. I keep a list of things I want to discuss. Eventually, we have gotten around to most of them.
Thanks for this!
