I did this again today, after doing it a couple weeks ago. The same timing, after about an hour in. I cracked At the time I just have to get out of the room. The panicky feeling is intense.

But today - I didn't go as far I only went a little way away and came back much quicker. And felt less like zomg! danger! run! much faster. It's like a slow dawning realization that nothing awful is going to happen if I experience bad emotions in that room with my therapist. The bit of my brain responsible for learning this stuff is slooooooooooow.

We're in session again tomorrow, and I've arranged to send an email detailing the things that were vaguely floating around my head that made me upset/ overwhelmed today - I'm not looking forward to writing this, and I'm certainly not looking forward to discussing the material tomorrow But I know in my heart of hearts it feels like a step I need to take.

This is more a vent than anything really it's wonderful to be able to share stuff with all you guys who understand the trials and tribulations and triumphs of therapy, even though all our stories are radically different. Thank Goddess for PC

Much love to y'all, and hope everyone's doing okay as can be

Its ok thats what we are here for, I understand those intense panicky feelings I get them too, but with anger too, except I freeze otherwise I would bolt out as well, I just shut down, but I have a feeling its going to happen. Vent all you want to.

I understand. Be gentle with yourself. There is a reason your mind is going into flight mode. It is trying to protect you from pain of some sort. It may help you when you flee to stop and just thank your brain for working so hard to keep you safe. try that and see what happens :-)

I wonder if you could notice the feelings before they become so overwhelming that you 'crack' and bolt... maybe it would help to warn your T how you're starting to feel, maybe she can help you calm down, ground yourself..?

I know the feeling, it's happened to me, too - in and outside of therapy.
