After posting a few times now I feel comfortable enough to ask this question and I would be very interested in your thoughts.
I have been seeing my T for a few months now. I really like her and I know she likes me a lot. This week I started outpatient chemotherapy (I have an agressive form of leukemia).
I know I can't go to see my therapist in her office but she was very sweet and we have agreed that during the chemo we would do the two sessions we have a week at my home. She doesn't want me to have to take a break during this time and I am not ashamed to say that this is a time when I especially need her.

Did your therapist ever do sessions at your home when you were very sick? Are there things I should be concerned about? Is there a risk that this might change the relationship in any way? What should I be careful about?

she sounds very caring , you have an illness that chemo will take your energy , so she does not want you stressing about going to her office therapy. It will be no different only maybe more relaxed, and you wont have the drive home

When my sister was going through cancer treatments and her bone marrow transplant, her pdoc Skyped with her several times rather than her having to try to make it to the office. No home visits though.

I have heard of T's visiting clients in their homes. I'm glad you have T's support.

Good luck with your treatment.

My T saw my in laws as well. When my father in law was really ill, T went to their house for the sessions.

My former ED T used to come to my house because my dad didn't want to drive me to her office and there wasn't a convenient bus route...I don't think there's anything wrong with it if both of you are comfortable. I think it's very caring of your T to agree to do sessions in your home and I think that's lovely.

Your T really cares about you. It's very uncommon for a T to visit or have sessions at a clients home. But I think there might be exceptions

I have known therapists to do it. The ones I see have done it for clients in certain situations.

Looks like you have a keeper there, she really cares about you and she's going the extra mile to be there for you- literally.
Best of luck with your treatment. I hope it all goes easily for you and you recover very quickly.
