I sent T a huge long email addressing my life long problems with older mother figure woman ive gotten to know and like over the years. I told her I felt the same way about her and that I don't know what to do because its not the first time its happened to me. Its happened with tons of woman that I consider to be mother figures in my life. All of this is very overwhelming and crazy how ive let this go on in my life this long.

Yes well done, that was a really brave thing to do. I hope it works out well for you. I am in a similar situation. Please keep us posted. I'm so hurt with my situation. I am debating what is there to lose over telling mine about my feelings for her - Although she is very distant and detached. I'm a mess tonight. Good luck. So good that you found the words. Xx

yes now I am super afraid to hear how she responds. I have to go to work soon, but I don't know how I am going to able to concentrate tonight! Ahhh its so overwhelming and I have so much anxiety building. But I know it was worth telling her. And I do feel better now that she is aware of whats been going on with me.

Well done! I had a terrible time discussing that with my T, and we've talked about it many times now, but it's been such a huge relief and she's really come through for me and taken it in stride. So, it can work out really well and I hope it does for you and you hear back soon.

I found it very comforting to tell my T about my Maternal transference. She just assured me that its normal and said that she had erotic transference with her therapist when she first went into therapy. She used to dream of them both running off together and living happy ever after.
I told her that I dream she will adopt me and be the mother I always wanted. It was good to get it out there and heard. The more we discussed it (not an awful lot) the less I felt it.

The catch is tho, ive had the same feelings about a lot of women in my life other than my T. Is it possible to have transference with people who are not therapists, but treat you the same way as a therapist does?

Absolutely. If you look into transference it's actually not just relating to patient and therapist. Tranference happens to everyone whether they realize it at some point in their lives. Good luck in your next session.

That explains a lot of my problems then. Maybe a lot of us have transference with others than are therapist more than we think...

T responded with this vague answer that this is something we will need to further explore in counseling...no fuss about it, which is good I guess
