So people come to this part of the forums all the time trying to figure out how to find a T, and it what is going on with their current T is ok or not. I Had some bad luck with a therapist awhile ago. The links below helped me to determine what is ok in therapy and what is not. Anyone should feel free to had to these links. How did you know that you had the right therapist, or the wrong therapist. Was there any information or advice that you used to guide you in the process?
For me probably the first warning sign that I had the wrong therapist a while back was when I brought in some poems where I tried to work through my erotic transference and she became very dismissive of the poems, refused to talk about them, and just said that "I couldn't depend on her." I think/hope that I have the right T now. So far I feel a connection building between us, and feel at ease when I'm with her. She also made a really cool observation a few weeks ago about how my Learning Disability interacts with other parts of my psychology. She pointed out that I was probably much more likely to experience shame in general because I have felt so much shame about my LD.
