Just to give a recap of my session today (my 3rd to last session with my current Therapist), we talked about a few things which I think are worthy of bringing up on the forums. As I had planed it was mostly about transition stuff with very little discussion about a friend of mine who I sometimes have issues with (we really had no big issues in the past week), I ended up only giving a very brief recap of the things we did together in the past week (and things we are planing on doing in the upcoming week) with the rest of the time talking mostly about transition stuff. I mentioned what I should look for in selecting (or maybe them assigning me) a new Therapist, I did mentioned that I wanted someone who is Female (since I feel more coverable opening up to females) and that shouldn't be a problem since most Therapists there are Female, I also brought up the age range and said that while I definitely want someone who is at least a few years older than me I said that my age limit (which I original set at 15 years older than me) is flexible, I just don't want someone who is 20 or 30 years older than me. I also brought up the issue of hugging and said that it would be nice to see someone who is open to hugging at more than just a final session, not necessarily someone who is open to hugging regularly (plus I don't really want to hug after every session anyways) but someone who is open to hugging during certain circumstances (such as a very difficult session). I also mentioned Post-Therapy contact and while she originally said that she is completely opposed to it she than told me that she might be willing to have some after a 2 year grace period (which is what I told her I have decided to do before getting back in contact with a previous Therapist of mine). We also discussed the confidentiality agreement and she did re-affirm to me that she will never approach the client unless they approach them first but did also say that things do sometimes change when the stop seeing a client (and thus they are no longer their client when they may see them).

What do you people on here think about all of this.

I should also say that I have already written down a few things to discuss next week (our next to last session together), I sort of have everything set up in stages, there were things that I had planed out to discuss at session today (and did discuss), there are also things that I had planed in advanced to discuss at each of the final 2 session (and hopefully will discuss at them).

It does seem to me that she is at least somewhat flexible about some of the things that are important to you. How do you feel about the session?

I thought well and yes I am pretty flexible for instance I don't need to see someone who is open to hugging durring certain circumstances but it would be nice to have one who is (I would say it is more of a preferance than a requirement).

It's good that you have a strong awareness of what you're looking for in a new T. I hope your final sessions with your current T go well.

Wow, looks like you know exactly what you need and you try to prepare yourself as well as possible... I hope that your next two sessions will be great and the transition will go smoothly... I also hope that in addition to all administrative (transition) issues you'll have enough time to get a good closure and talk also about your feelings and how to handle after the last session

I've sort of already talked some about that in toady's session and I definitely will discuss it more in our final 2 sessions together.

I'm glad she's open to contact after the 2 years.

It's really good that you know exactly what you need in the next T you see.

I think she's sort of on the fence right now about it.

Plus since I only saw her for 4 months I may have almost forgotten about her by than.

I think that right now I need to decide what things it a Therapist are most important for me, is having a Therapist willing to hug the most important thing or is something else such as willing to discuss personal things about themselves more important.
