The strangest thing in my Main T's office is a framed illustration of a graveyard in happy colors.

He says it reminds him that we don't have as much time as we think we do/he wants to help people change/feel better as soon as he can.

What is the strangest object in T's office?

Ever ask T about it?

My T has a very dead plant which isn't strange but is quite visually sad and depressing. I've asked her a couple times why she keeps it and she just gives it this longing look like she couldn't save it and needs to remind herself.

My T doesn't have anything too interesting. Just lots of posters on the walls and a ton of books.

Idk - my t has kid clients also, and his office is a weird cross between Swedish modern and PeeWee's Playhouse.

Mouse, love your reply!!!!

This may sound really stupid, and it's not weird...but T has this old gray metal filing cabinet next to his desk....
I have the strangest urge to paint it purple or something...

Ooops!!!

Ha!! My CBT T shares a very small office at one location with his child-T intern.

Not as much Pee Wee (that would be fun, right?) but more "Mr Rogers' Neighborhood" with snoozfest books like "Calm Down Time!!". And games with not so fun sounding names like the "Thinking, feeling, Doing game."

I love the way he has the kids' arts and crafts and gifts displayed - it makes me feel like, when he cares about them, he cares about the little kid in me too.

A photo of Katherine Hepburn.

“I’m good at loving books. I’m good at loving soft bed sheets. I’m good at loving coffees and teas. I am good at loving things that can’t love me back, that don’t have the power to leave. And maybe, that’s why I love them.”

He's a fan, and he's used an analogy about her life in one of our sessions.

I don't pay much attention to T's office. But outside the office window is a little bird that just sits there tapping at the window. I guess it needs therapy too

At the last place my therapist worked, there was a Christian icon on the wall, which annoyed me because I'm an atheist and didn't feel very welcome ... and I just think a psychotherapy private practice isn't the place for religious objects. But I soon realized the icon belonged to his colleague who was the owner of that place, so I just ignored it after that.

At the place where my therapist works now, the strangest thing for me to see is his colleague's license certificate. His papers aren't there, but another therapist's diploma is, which feels a little bit weird. Besides the place where he works is very, very homey and soft, with soft armchairs and sofa, pillows, small tables, soft carpets, minimalistic furniture, toys - it doesn't look like an office at all and even just the fact that there's a certificate lying around seems out of place there. (It's not on the wall, btw, it's on a piece of furniture.

Is a T allowed to dance with his patient?

For sure it is a big telescope on a tripod - why would any T have a telescope in the office?? Apart from it, the office looks like a standard office, for sure not so "homey", so the telescope looks there pretty weird...

A bad photo of a real turtle climbing on a rock out of water, with a box of text above it, that is laminated and stuck on the side of his filing cabinet. I have wanted to know what that is all about since I started 16 months ago with him.

I think I will ask to look this week....really, it'll take a lot of courage to ask......but I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to know!
Thanks for this!

Mr T has a tapestry-like object with shells and feathers made by one of his patients.

Madame T has a 1.5 metre circular ceramic frame with various glazes on her wall.

But weirder than that, is a sort of shrine in her garden made from three pieces of a crucible. The memorial not of a dead child or pet, but of a holiday.

Mine is so clinical - there is just a table and two chairs. and behind me a desk and a desk chair. It has nothing of her at all in there. Mind you - she isn't "there" either! just a facade.

My T has all sorts of gifts and trinkets from various clients over the years: everything from McDonald's Happy Meal toys from kids to really nice figurines or art from his adult clients.

Some of them are a bit odd. I remember once, he was trying to get me grounded during a hard session, and he asked me to focus on various objects in his office. He pointed to one thing and asked me what I saw. I said, "I haven't the foggiest idea what that is." Certainly helped break the tension.

Lol actually my favorite scene in the movie is where Ginger wears this great sweater with a heart with arrows embroidered on it and she keeps flaunting it - and Fred just IGNORES it!
