I think this really does depend on the situation. I might have been too freaked out last year during therapy if it happened, but I was -literally and figuratively- in a different place in my work. I was much more sensitive to everything. If it happened now, I would likely not be disturbed.

My T got tearful in a session and it helped me a lot. I kept asking if it was really a big deal and not believing the answer. The tears SHOWED me it was.

My T has gotten choked up frequently and often tells me that she feels like crying. That is helpful for me, actually. But if it wasn't helpful for me, I would expect her to not do it.

My T sometimes gets a bit teary-eyed and I'm fine with it. She's a human being. In my case it makes me feel like she cares and thinks my troubles are important (among other reasons).
However if I wasn't comfortable with it, I'd tell her. |
