Todays session, was about processing my mother in laws passing, which we did, and she also told me I was avoiding stuff, which I was. She also told me that another therapist quit, so the therapists remaining had to split the clients adding to their caseloads meaning that she now can see me 3 times a month one month then the next month maybe 4 times a month stressing on the maybe. They are in the process of hiring a new therapist, once she is hired, she still has to undergo a month of some computer training, then things will go back to normal, but until then, we are probably talking maybe 4 months .

I know its not her fault, but it would be seeing her one week then the following week then waiting 2 weeks, then one week, then waiting 2 weeks then seeing her the next week then waiting 2 weeks, no consistency, and we are going to start trauma work again.

I told her at this point we will be working on trauma for a long time longer than expected, and she said she knows this, and not to worry about it.

Yikes..... are you open to finding someone else? Working with trauma.....I'd think you'd want a more regular schedule. I'm working on trauma with my T and I see her twice a week!
Thanks for this!

Because this will only be a few months, can you ask your T to wait until things settle down to begin trauma work? Also, you need a few weeks at least to process your MIL and all that went with that. I think your T is rushing you much too fast, and it's beginning to worry me.

Yes it does, I require consistency even without the trauma thing lol.I will see how this goes, otherwise I will wait until she gets back to the regular schedule and we will work on other things, I am not up to looking at other therapist, she is quite good.

Yes I believe so as well, she would like to start a bit of pre trauma work, what we left off at, which was what I was taught growing up, which leads into trauma, but not so directly, but none the less. The problem with that is, then I wont see her for the next 2 weeks, and I will still be processing this change , still cleaning up here in the house, still dealing with h and getting him set up with a therapist, dealing with his grief, and my strange feelings about this house now.

Can you tell her? Stand up for yourself and your emotional health? Even if she is disappointed, it's not about her and what she wants. It's about what is best for you, and it's better to speak up now rather than get into trauma work and find yourself too overwhelmed by it.

she is not leaving, another therapist is, but her caseload will get bigger, because of this therapist and the other therapists will also be taking on other clients. so thats why I will be seeing her less on a crazy schedule while working on trauma, until the hiring of the new t is done, which when all is said and done will be around 3 to almost 4 months, but in the meantime i will be working on trauma, while just having had a death in the family although i did not care for this woman, so i guess it does not matter.

yeah true i dont, it was the last thing i needed, Im not about to start talking pre trauma trauma or whatever, then have to wait 2 damn weeks to see her. then have to deal with h grieving, and still have to deal with the stuff i experienced the night the woman died in the house. and they kept her body for over 24 hours in the house , way over.

Exactly. There's no way you should be working on anything even remotely related to trauma right now. Pull the brakes. Stop that bus. Focus on what is going on around you today and what you just went through. Deal with that first.

That doesn't sound like a supportive enough schedule for trauma work to me.

that sounds rough. i'd wait as well to start the trauma work until you are back to a regular schedule. hope things calm down around your house soon.

You can postpone the trauma work and use the time to process the death and the changes in family relationships after that.

I think that sounds better, I am going to propose that, I am thinking that, since I hated the woman, she might think, that its not affecting me, but the whole death thing, and the body in the house, and I was present for the last breaths and witnessed the death, and the peoples sadness, and all the changes in the house. The cleaning of the house, the reminders , the smells ect... h and his grieving.
