CBT T has an impressive collection of novelty neckties. I don't know much about him because he doesn't self disclose unless I ask him a direct question.

So far I have noticed the following designs:

Valentines hearts
Neon paisley on a black ground
Cigars (!!)
New Orleans Jazz/sax motif
Chili Peppers (food, not the band)
pink and gray geometrics
purple watercolor brushstrokes

He has some nicely designed, tasteful ties also. The cigars I find hilarious somehow. Not sure what he is trying to communicate.

Does your T have accessories or other quirks that show a bit of personality? Ever ask T about the backstory? I haven't yet.

My T loves wearing very bright colors and professional, yet loud designs. It's really interesting.

T really doesn't other than she has never worn pants to a session except once this past fall when I saw her on a Sunday after a mini crisis on Saturday. I have seen her at the grocery store and wearing pants so I asked why she always wears dresses even when it is a horrible winter day. She said that she has always worn dresses when seeing clients. No particular reason other than she always. She said she doesn't wear skirts because of her body type she doesn't like how they look.

I don't really notice what the woman wears. I rarely notice what I am wearing.

My T dresses casually. I notice things like colors (usually earthy tones) and patterns... What I like most about T's attire are the shoes - they're generally removed. I find that level of comfort inviting and almost always remove my own.

I love this thread.

My t dresses pretty boringly. The man owns beige socks. BEIGE SOCKS for crying out loud.

My T loves nail polish. I can tell because her manicure is always perfect and she seems to change her nail polish quite often.
I love that she's so meticulous about her nails as I am too. I can't stand damaged nails or badly done manicures (on myself and on others). I often want to ask her what brand she uses when she's wearing a particularly striking colour but I never do. I don't know why. It's not that personal. Maybe it's because I'd have to comment on her looks and that makes me uncomfortable.

My T recently started wearing these tight spandexy pencil skirts. One of then is hot pink! She wears them with wedge heels. She is of the rounder variety of person, so one might think that she wouldn't be inclined to try and pull something like that off, but the fact that she does, and looks fantastic is totally inspiring to me, especially because I gained quite a lot of weight in the last 4 years, and don't feel very sexy a lot of the time. It nice to see how confident she is about her body.

I like the way my T dresses, because it's similar to how I dress, but it doesn't really stand out in any way.

I once had a pdoc, on the other hand, who wore purple leather mini skirts. She had the least personality of anyone I know, so the skirts were a trip.

My T told me the first day of therapy that she dresses very casually all the time and she doesn't care what people think of her clothes. She works in a very wealthy and prestigious suburb, and the last therapist I saw also had her office in that suburb and she dressed to the hilt. So I guess people have commented on current T's manner of dressing. Now, I get all cracked up because I think she is a very cool T with a tattoo and pierced nose , but she has a certain outfit that makes me nuts. She has a teen-aged daughter and I can't believe she has never said anything to her mother about that outfit!

Mine is female and into shoes, always heels, not typical business pumps, but like trendy, sometimes "sexy" ones. I was a little surprised. But then again, really my first time in therapy, so I didn't know what to expect. I'll say this, I don't mind that she dresses nice, she's an attractive woman. Of course I have no illusions about the situation.

My male therapist wears the same thing every day--docker-type pants and a long-sleeved button up shirt, in different colors/pattern, with dark socks and slip on dress shoes. I asked him once why he didn't wear short sleeved shirts and he said he was insecure about his arms, so he felt more comfortable in long sleeves.

It's not exactly my T.. But one of the social workers/nurses at the psych ward, a male, has.. well, I guess he probably follows fashion too closely or something.
Bright green sweater, bright yellow coat, bright pink shoes (Allstars or something similar)
Bright yellow sweater
Bright pink trousers and bright red shoes.. Whuut? I always thought pink and red didn't go together..

He also looks like he's in his thirties but he he's actually 51.
And he's one of the nicest social workers/nurses (they do pretty much the same thing and you address them the same, most of the time you don't even know if someone is a SW or a nurse) there is. Very easy-going, never gets angry even when he has a cause to.

Old school T would always wear gray slacks and the same shoes. I would comment on it. "Is your closet just full of gray slacks or is it the same pair every day?" She would laugh and joke that her closet was only full of identical gray slacks and the same little black shoes. One time she wore a dress. Whoa. It wasn't gray either. She was a little interesting.

LCM goes between wearing no makeup to wearing a lot of bright colors. I make fun of her for it. "Wow look at you. Are you sure I'm the only type of client you're seeing today?"
LCM (playfully): "oh shut the **** up. You are such a ***** you know that right?"
"It comes naturally unlike that shade of eye shadow"
