I would like to recommend a book I recently read, perhaps it has been mentioned here at PC before but anyway. The book is called "In the therapists´ chair" by Jacqueline Simon Gunn.
Even if the book contains mostly stories about several different clients and sessions it also contains very interesting facts about issues that are often spoken about here at PC. She (a clinical psychologist) talks about hugging in therapy, giving and getting gifts, about meeting and seeing clients outside therapy and what and how much to disclose about personal information to clients. All very interesting subjects that are often thought about when being a client. I would now ask if someone has more books of this kind to recommend? About how the T feels about the clients, the therapeutic relationship and so on. I´ve read several shorter articles on this but think it would be valuable to both me and others to get some ideas about good books to read. |
