Can anyone offer me some tips on finding a new therapist?

I haven't seen a therapist in 7 months but I recently got insurance and am beginning my search.

It's a lot harder than I thought it'd be because I was usually given a list of therapists by school psych counselors and only had to do the work of sifting through said list. This time I'm going it alone.

So far I've located a therapist network that pairs you with a therapist and I've used online directories. I'd like to do consultation meetings but I don't see many therapists offering them.

Am I missing anything else?

By consultation meetings do you mean an initial try out session? I thought all therapists offered this - but you have to pay for it?

I think it's a good idea to try out several therapists.

If you plan on using insurance, start with who is on your insurance list. It probably won't be a very long list.

Yeah,I mean a try out session. It seems like they're not a given. Most of the providers don't offer them.

Yeah, I started with in network ppl and so far no one looks suitable. Maybe I'm just being picky.
