What kind of treatment is done for dissociation issues? I don't have a horrible problem with it but lately I have been noticing when I'm driving I don't remember how I arrive at my destination and it is the most frightening feeling. Or I come back right before I arrive. Anyone experience this or something similar with dissociation?

I used to have this problem a lot. My therapist really worked with me on grounding exercises and staying present. It took time and practice and working through many, many issues, but I rarely dissociate anymore, certainly not to the point of losing time and space like I once did.
Thanks for this!

The driving thing is actually quite common. If it worries you, talk to your t about it. I know I get lost in thought while driving and just end up where I need to be.

True. It's a very "normal" form of dissociation to realize you haven't really noticed where you were while you were driving because your mind was elsewhere. My driving problem though was finding myself miles and miles away from my desired destination, not knowing how I got there, and not at all being where I was actually heading. Very unsettling and not at all normal.

Ah, yes. That would be quite worrisome... do you know what's been triggering it lately? If you can figure out when is starting, maybe you can try to ground from it before it gets too bad? I know that's easier said then done. At least maybe if you can figure out the triggers, you can pull over and breathe a bit or call someone?
