I am excited about that book too!

He will be pleased that you owned up to a lie.

My problem was that I too often went back the way I came.

That sounds more socially acceptable than my typical action when I have nothing to contribute. I'd just go sit somewhere alone and say nothing. Likely stick my head in my phone and ignore those around me.

GAH! I desperately need to start working out. I have 70lbs (two babies worth of weight) to lose. I have the motivation, but not the drive to do it. I could make excuses until the cows come home. Frustrating.

And the worst part... As I typed that I was sitting here drinking a highly fatty iced coffee and chowing on a kit kat bar.

Making jokes might get on people's nerves. In some cases, they might feel unheard, invalidated or mocked. I hate to feel mocked.

So... if you want to score points with your son, you could casually mention that the animal on the covers is a jhereg, a small flying lizard (rather than a dragon). The main character in the books has a jhereg familiar.

I was supposed to read it as part of grade 10 English, but I didn't. I had no interest. I actually made it through all 5 years of high school having only actually read one of the assigned books.

I read To Kill a Mockingbird about 8 years ago and enjoyed it.

Indeed. And since you ask (I would not have said this otherwise), yes, when I am the butt of your jokes it sometimes makes me feel invalidated and mocked. I have had more than one post removed for that reason.

But I see that as 100% my problem, not yours at all. I don't think there is any reason why you should change your behaviour on the boards.

As long as they are gentle jokes, fine by me.
BTW - How goes it? Still battling the t-woes with your XT, or has she finally given you the closure you needed/deserved?

ha ha...I think he told me that once. They are dragon-esque though!
TKAM was my first "adult" book. I read it at age 9, then again and again and again. Positively the only book I read and re-read. And I have the movie on Blue Ray. Which I watch, and re-watch, and re-watch....
I think it was the first time I was transported out of that hell hole with a book.

wait...ok, I re-read The Borrowers too, and have about 5 different animated versions of it digitally.

For me, it is my legs being trapped. I actually had to talk about this in therapy today because I had a panic attack over the weekend involving my legs being trapped and reacted fairly violently. Then T mentions having a blanket on while in therapy and in the midst of the racing heart, sweaty palms and general panicky reaction, I was also laughing inside my head about this discussion happening here. I held it together enough to calmly say, no, no blankets in here.

Gah - I was so caught up in my arms being trapped, I forgot about my legs.
Now I am feeling panicky thingking about it. Rugs I know to avoid, but I kind of thought my legs were safe from blankets.
I usually sleep with at least one leg out of the covers at all times.

I do that in the summer, but only because I get hot quickly. In the winter I wrap myself up as tight as I can.... and I am usually so tangled up in the blankets that the bed looks as though a tornado hit it by morning.

Our weather went from cold to snowy! Gah!

Super stressed, our current babysitter is moving out of country (thank you Army).. and thought my son had a opening at the daycare next door to my school. Well, apparently they gave it away. I thought we had left it at that yes we want the spot, but I was waiting to hear an end date with the babysitter. I called today because I got that date and they gave the damn spot away. So, now I am scrambling.. which I don't like to do with daycare for my son. He has multiple food allergies, bee, and environmental allergies and not all centers are licensed to administer the meds he needs in case of an allergic reaction.. and then they all want to know why my 5 year old (he just turned 5 end of January) isn't in preschool.. That is where we get to the fact that my stupid boss kicked him out. So, that gets into behavior and then all of a sudden they don't have an opening.. Not freaking out, I am not freaking out, I am not freaking out.

That sucks they gave the spot away.

Preschool costs money here and neither of my kids will attend due to cost. Is preschool the norm where you are?

I hope you find an appropriate daycare for him. I get the importance of a good daycare. Due to my baby girl's medical needs she would never be accepted at any daycare.
