If you plan on using insurance, start there. If not, many use the Psychology Today search engine.

I found one off of the psych today site and the other was a name from my partner's therapist (I was given 3 names based on criteria I set - and I interviewed all three and stayed with one of them). I found interviewing several is a good plan for me.

I have Medicaid and there are very few Ts that will take it. I could go to the mental health clinic, but I've had bad experiences.

I have Medicare/Medicaid and have had luck finding good T's who are connected to a University and/or Medical School....or T's who are in a large practice.
My current T came through a recommendation of one of my doctors. Good luck. |

With Medicaid I think you'd have the most major hospitals with large psych departments, private group practices and clinics (if you have options other than the one you don't like). I think that Medicaid may be able to give you a list of providers that they work with (perhaps there is an online site for this as well). I also think you narrow it down to a few and meet with all of them so you can compare/contrast.
