So I had emailed my therapist to try to get a appointment later in the day. Which usually she is awesome about reschedueing.
She emailed back to say it was her B-day and couldn't reschedule because she had plans with her family after our normal session time. She also made the comment "We could skip this week if needed". I disclosed something big last week so I really don't want skip therapy this week. So I just kept our normal time. Here's the thing I got her a birthday card. Now I'm scared to give it to her. It's a basic 99 cent card that I wrote a nice message in and colored the inside. I'm scared of how I'll feel if she says she can't accept it. Here's the thing I have bough posters that you color like the black fuzzy one's and she has accepted those and put them up on the wall in her office. So do you think she'll accept the birthday card? Has anyone ever given there therapist a birthday card before? ??? What happened how did they respond? |

I'm quite sure she'll take the card. It's not like a lavish expensive gift. I'm sure she'll take it and say thank you.

I made a pop up card for my T and she took it and loved it. So no worries, I'm pretty sure she will be thrilled with your card!

Definitely give her the card. Everyone appreciates a kind gesture. Well, almost everyone
My t and i exchange birthday presents and christmas presents every year. She loves homemade cards and presents the best i think. |

She'll take it, I'm sure she will love it. Simple things like a card or a letter are very widely accepted & therapists love them!

I am sure she will accept it. There is nothing inappropriate in accepting a BD card from a client. I am also sure she'll appreciate it.

Coward here (me) plays it safe...I never ask or do anything close to a boundary of any kind!. I suppose that means something, too. But seems a birthday card, especially since your T mentioned her B-day, would be acceptable.

I'm glad. I never did ask my t when her birthday is. I don't know if she would tell me or not. So I never asked.

I have never given my T a birthday card but I have made her several cards from scratch which she was completely touched by. I'm sure your T will love the card and the gesture!!!
