Last week my therapy session started with my therapist saying "There are going to be some big changes in the near future" my heart just sank, I had put my foot in my mouth big time in our previous session, and I suddenly KNEW she was going to dump me on another therapist, something I do NOT want.

But turns out she is starting her own practice, in June, our last session in her current location will be may 21st, not sure when she will be up and running in June.

I hope that she will be able to take my insurance she did say that mine is one of the main ones she wants to get on (it pays out well) so it will be a great thing for both of us if she does.

Not sure why I'm posting this, just a brief moment of panic but should work out.

my therapist has her own practice and it's so much better paying her directly and not having to navigate through office staff and the like.

i understand your anxiety though... change is hard.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad that it's not going to interfere with your seeing her. It's hard to start over with a new t. Hopefully, you won't have to wait long for an appointment at the new place.

I understand your feelings: 3 years ago T, only a couple months after I started seeing her T told me she would have to leave the community mental health centre she was working at, and would have have to start her own practice. I freaked out, but everything went well: it took her about 2-3 months to get her own place, and until then she borrowed her husband's office on saturdays so the few clients following her wouldn't be left on their own.

I hope things will work out this well for you too
Thanks for this!

i was seeing my T in a residential treatment program and we both left that program and he started his own private practice. that was in august last year. i was worried he wouldnt get clients and he would stop being a T but now he has lots of clients and is even starting a process group. he doesnt take my insurance but he gives me a really low rate. i hope ur Ts practice is successful and it isnt too much of a change. when my T left the program we were in i was scared i was going to lose him but he said he wouldnt abandon me and i continued to see him outside of the program until i left
