So, I took a really big step this week. I told my dad about

Possible trigger:

my csa at the hands of my brother

It was incredibly hard for me, but he handled it well. I've been in contact every day with my t and she's been supporting me through the process.

I'm feeling sooo overwhelmed, embarrassed, ashamed and anxious now that he knows. I can't express how sick I feel.

I don't see t until Monday, and she is on her weekend break now, so posting here for support x

Good for you for disclosing.. it is something that I recently did as well, to my mom. It was hard to disclose and the first couple days afterwards were hard. I am so glad that your T has been supportive through all of this and I hope your session on Monday goes well.

That is something I have never been able to even consider doing...telling my parents. It was my cousin who happened to be the only male child of my mother's siblings (her sister's son). Her sister being the only living family member since a year or two before it started. being the only boy, he was "golden" and catered to. Both him and I are now in our mid to late 50's. Both of his parents have passed away. I can't see any reason to put my 83 yr old mother & 86 yr old father through it. I think they are just better off not knowing and not breaking up the family.
Even 30 years ago, I wouldn't and couldn't have even considered it.

I am in awe of your braveness (for lack of a better word at the moment). Hugs to both of you and continued healing!

A year ago I couldn't have imagined it - telling my parents - but now, for me, I know I have to. I dicovered that it's not my burden to keep silent anymore. My parents are in their 70s, but it was unhealthy for me to keep those secrets anymore. It didn't serve me well to cover it up. In covering up i feel I was simply reenacted the abusive situation. I can't tell my mum yet, I am terrified about her reaction. She is very supportive and understanding of the abusive members of our family, I'm not ready to hear her defend him.

I'm sorry about what your cousin did, and hope that you find peace in whatever you decide is best for you.
