I would feel uncomfortable if my T liked me, listen to me and though I was telling the truth. I would rather them not give two ***** about me. If people like me then I always disappoint them.

Ad Intra, I bet your behavior is a reflection of what your parents gave you and the disappointment you felt then. Low self esteem is part of the problem parents can provoke in their children.

It might be worth asking your therapist about this and have them ask you what it would mean if they did care and really listen to you and accept you the way you are. There is something there. Turn over that rock and see what is growing there.

Perhaps that's the first thing you need to discuss with your T. Your fears are valid feelings and your T can help you get to a place where you are more comfortable with how you think others perceive you. It can improve your relationship with everyone.

Thanks guys, but I'm not in therapy, I was thinking about if I was. I was reading about therapeutic relationship in therapy and my skin started to crawl.

I wasn't sure I would be believed when I started therapy. It was a good feeling that I was. I also don't expect to be liked.
