Deep breaths.....

If this is a potential T you really think you would want to work with, you need to call back, apologize for hanging up, and just say you would like to discuss you concerns in session. My guess is that the T knows by your hanging up that he made you uncomfortable by asking the question and would be totally fine with the "let's discuss in session" statement. You can do this!! It would have totally taken me off guard, too. It's ok. Be easy on yourself - just don't let a potentially good T get away if you can repair this. The way he handles this initial hiccup with you might be a great indication of how he will be as a T, too! Meaning that if he is warm and understanding about the hangup that is a good sign, versus if he is cold and demeaning over the hangup (which I doubt...) Let us know!

I don't think they should answer their phone unless they know who it is. I've had that happen--all braced to leave a message and then, bam, it was like all the air left my lungs when I heard a live voice.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure you're not the only one who have done that. Email or cal him and explain why you hung up. See how he reacts. And then decide if you want to meer him in person. It's way harder to talk about those things on the Phone then in person. Tell him that you rather talk about it in person.
