Having a bad episode of paranoia.. directed at my therapist. That was a rough one.

Has anyone NOT had an embarrassing moment (or many moments) in therapy?

my stomache growling loudly because I forgot to eat! Forgetting how to put words together to form a sentence. yes, the ugly cry seems to be popular!!! Hey it could be worse right?????

She was very motherly about it. She was with me the whole time making sure I was okay. Gave me some water to sip on and ensured did so slowly and peppermint mints to help calm my stomach. Very kind. Sympathetic.

The time he asked me about sexual fantasies of previous T comes to mind. Oy.

I dissociated ....didn't see it coming...it felt embarrassing... like someone had suddenly snatched my clothes off my body. I wasn't ready for T to see me like that. Rough time.

I have a phobia of throwing up in front of someone. I would have ran to the bathroom. That is so sweet how she took care of you. You seem to have a good T.

I don't think so - if so I don't remember it. I did misidentify the original source of a latin phrase once. I felt stupid but not embarrassed. I don't think the woman knew I was wrong. She did intentionally humiliate me but I think that is different from embarrass too.

i was sick. it wasnt in a session. at that time he worked at this residential facility i lived at. it was in one of the main rooms. he came in and saw me puking. awkward

Thanks for this thread. I am still VERY held onto myself in sessions partly because of fear of the unknown if I crack. I am very interested in these responses and how your t's responded when these things happened.

I'm not sure if there has been anything embarrassing but I've definitely had some awkward moments. I've never cried in session but that would probably embarrass me.

I guess I can get socially awkward when she tries to small talk with me at the beginning of the session if I have something on my mind that I really want to talk about that day. It has caused some awkward moments so thankfully it doesn't happen every session.

Because it's therapy and it might be relevant? Normal rules of conversation don't really apply in therapy, you know...

My longtime T has asked about sexual feelings or fantasies. I never had the sense he was being a "dirty old man" about it. It seemed like a reasonable line of questioning given the context.

Sure. Sex as a topic came up in my sessions a lot. I just wonder in what context t would ask op about sexual fantasies especially if those fantasies were about t ( previous t)
