I am currently seeing therapist A. But I have a lot of doubts on picking him because of my old therapist, we will call him therapist B.
I made a Pro/Con list for therapist A and B. I need help. Therapist A (CURRENT THERAPIST) PROS: Talks a lot, Cons: Not adjusted to him, only in office once a week, 60 dollars for 45 minutes, no hugs, no contact between sessions, isn't available to text or call. Isn't interactive (no games or anything) Therapist B (therapist i switched from, switched because he was quiet) Pros: Adjusted to him, plays games with me to calm me down (board games or cards), 50 dollars for 50 minutes, hugs every other session, available to text or call, soft and caring personality Cons: He's quiet -_- I am very conflicted. I feel like I should give therapist A one more session to tell him this. Maybe show him this post? I am not sure. Ugh.. I hate myself for this. I texted him yesterday because I broke down and had thoughts and he never responded which makes me feel...... horrible.. Thoughts? |

Did you ever talk to your last therapist about wanting him to speak up more?

Yes, a while ago. He says he is more of a listener. But, when he has something to say it is really good.

In general, I would think that a therapist who is a listener is a better therapeutic bet than a therapist who is a talker.
A has 1 plus (which I do not necessarily consider to be a plus) and 7 minuses, net = -6. B has 6 pluses and 1 minus (which i do not necessarily consider to be a minus), net = +5. B seems to have a lot of advantages over A right now. Just saying. ![]() |

I like the way Bill broke it down. But, yes, leaving an imperfect T is hard to do (don't I know it!!)

![]() I guess it was hard when you left B as well. What helped you do it? |

Whatever decision you make, don't hate yourself over this, Psychmajor. You aren't doing anything wrong here. Take care of you.

I think, as long as you are able to engage yourself in your sessions, definitely B. I often need help, prodding, to keep talking. So much so that if I have a session where I'm more talkative than normal, she will thank me for talking. LOL. So, she talks if she needs to... but I'm more the quiet one than she is. But I need that. B sounds awesome!
