The mental health workers told me to mail my son's dad dolls. They also told me to send him an email calling him a fag. Now he was upset about it and I don't have a good reason for doing it. What should I tell him?

If you think it would be helpful to mail your son's dad dolls to your son, there seems to be no harm in that.

Anyone that told you to send him an email and call him "fag" has violated their professional integrity in my opinion. I do no see how name calling will work.

What can you say to your son that is positive?

They told me to mail him dolls to his work. They weren't dolls for my son. I don't see what I say to my son has to do with what the mental health workers told me to say to my son's dad.

theres a few things involved with this...here in the USA when a treatment provider calls someone a fag or induces their clients to do so its called discrimination and grounds for losing their credentials.

theres also the situation that if your sons father is gay its illegal for treatment providers to act on this now. (its a hate crime)

theres also the fact that you have schizophrenia (in the past you have posted many times that treatment providers were telling you to do bad things, while at the same time posting about not taking medications) just on the odd chance taking this into consideration it could be a delusion/hallucination that we were telling you could happen in the what would happen if a schizophrenic didnt take their meds thread)

all these factors together tell me to suggest first contacting someone in the mental health agency that you trust and tell them what happened. they will be able to work out this situation with you, they can also officially report this person to the right places that can arrest this treatment provider who is telling you to commit hate crimes, discrimination against your sons father.

The mental health agency employs the people that told me to do this.

It must be very confusing for you when people are telling you to do this. Is there anyone in real life you can discuss this with?

then calling 911\the police will fix this problem because what they told you is against the law...its called a hate crime. these treatment providers committing hate crimes by telling their clients to do these discriminatory acts against others will be arrested, you will get a new mental health agency and treatment providers and those arrested will have to go to jail for their crime sometimes for as long as 5-25 years in some locations so you will finally be safe from these people once and for all.

unless of course these are delusions from not taking your meds. in which case the solution is clear ...take your meds and the problem will go away.

Well, I don't think anyone would actually believe what these people are telling me to do. So, I really don't have anyone to discuss it with. I just told my son's dad that someone told me to do it and he forgave me.

Okay... so if you don't feel you can do any of the other things Amanda Louise suggested the other option available to you is to take your meds and see if that has anything to do with the situation.

It's definitely worth a try given that other options don't seem to be available right now. And if you give them a try and after a week or so they don't seem to be helping, you can reconsider your options again.

ETA: I am glad your son's dad forgave you. That's a good thing.

Why are you avoiding the topic of your medication or possible hallucinations? You are responding to everything but that. My guess is because that's the real issue and maybe you're not ready to face that?

I don't think it is helpful to be telling op to report some people for hate crimes.

Of course he forgave. He knows your diagnosis, that's why he got custody. It's good he forgave but that doesn't resolve the issue of you being unwell.

This really does sound mostly related to your diagnosis. Are you taking your medications? Are you telling your pdoc exactly what thoughts you are having? It sounds like your meds may not be working as they should for some reason and that you really need to let your care team know about these kinds of intrusive thoughts/delusions/hallucinations.

No one told you to do this. Your illness did. Psychosis causes distorted thinking. I know because I have struggled with this sort of thing before. When I was ill I had a tendency to believe people told me to do things when they did not. Sometimes I even believed my thoughts belonged to them. It all fit the delusional theme.

Dad doll's doesn't make sense. Mental health workers wouldn't ask you to mail items and instruct you to call your son's father a fag. It is unethical. It really helps to question thoughts like this. I found this very helpful in sorting out what was real or not in my mind when I was recovering. If it doesn't make sense or fit in this reality it is due to your illness.

No, I have had hallucinations before. Someone telling me to do something is not a hallucination. Maybe the mental health workers want me to believe that I don't have schizophrenia and don't know what a hallucination is.

I seriously doubt the mental health workers would tell you to do such awful things.
Please take your medication to get yourself out of that horrible headspace.

Mental health workers would not want to deny the diagnosis and they wouldn't want to confuse you. There are some bad ones of course but not that bad. Are you taking your meds?

There are many different kinds of hallucinations, perhaps you are having a kind that you aren't used to.

But, the randomness of anyone telling someone to send their ex dolls..... that's, well, that doesn't make sense. And to call him names? And to bother him on fb so that he blocked you? (That's from your other thread over in Relationships).....

Dear, I know you can't see it because you're in the middle of it.... but there is about 99% chance that no one has actually told you those things.

And you are using the plural - workerS... implying more than one person? Really, a group of them are all deciding, at once, to act so unethical and frankly, strange? At once? Together?

You need to talk to your pdoc, because if you are taking your medication it's not really working....

My ex blocked me on facebook because I posted some videos on his page. That is not the same person that I sent dolls to and called him a fag.
